The VA/DoD clinical practice guidelines are based upon the best information available at the time of publication. They are designed to provide information and assist with decision-making, but are not intended to define a standard of care or an exclusive course of condition management.

Variations in practice will occur based on the needs of individual patients, available resources, and limitations unique to an institution or type of practice. Every health care provider making use of these guidelines is responsible for evaluating the appropriateness of applying them to any particular clinical situation.

Disclaimer: Clinical practice guidelines are intended for use only as a tool to assist a clinician/health care provider and should not be used to replace clinical judgment.
