Two Soldiers Back To Back

PRIMARY CARE CLINICIAN

A major objective of the RESPECT-Mil Program is to introduce and facilitate the routine and consistent screening of Soldiers for depression and PTSD. The inclusion of screening as a matter of routine will aid in diagnosing and treating Soldiers in need. Educating patients about depression and treatment options often encourages them to become partners in their care process.

In the RESPECT-Mil model, the Primary Care Clinician is equipped to recognize Soldiers who potentially suffer from depression or PTSD. The Primary Care Clinician then completes a diagnostic assessment (including a suicide evaluation), engages the Soldiers in getting help, and provides appropriate management.

As part of the 3CM model, the Primary Care Clinician works closely with the Care Facilitator and the Behavioral Health Specialist in the treatment of Soldiers with depression or PTSD.
