CARE FACILITATOR

Care facilitators in the RESPECT-Mil program are registered nurses (RNs). They’ve been trained to help Soldiers suffering from depression and/or PTSD. The Care Facilitator provides frequent contact with the Soldier to answer any questions, encourages the Soldier to stick with the treatment plan, and monitors the Soldiers response to treatment.

Care Facilitators work closely with Primary Care Clinicians by communicating in person, by telephone, e-mail, and through the electronic medical record. They typically make the first contact with the Soldier within a week of the Primary Care Clinician referral, and then follow up routinely and as needed until remission is reached. Care Facilitators coordinate with the Primary Care Clinicians and BH Specialists, working to achieve the most effective and most personalized care available for Soldiers.
