BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SPECIALIST
The Behavior Health (BH) Specialist participates in several important ways. The BH Specialist is usually a psychiatrist, for purposes of providing advice on psychopharmacology and other clinical advice to Primary Care Clinicians. The Specialist meets weekly with the Care Facilitator (by phone or in person) to discuss specific cases and progress. This staffing provides guidance to the Care Facilitator and Primary Care Clinician, and presents a mechanism to monitor progress on a large number of cases.
The Behavioral Health Specialist is also available to the Primary Care Clinician to provide informal advice about diagnosis and management. In some cases, the Primary Care Clinician, working with the Care Facilitator, will facilitate a direct contact between the patient and the Specialist.
